MURINGAYILA PARIPPU CURRY/DAL CURRY WITH DRUMSTICK LEAVES
Muringayila/Drumstick leaves have a lot of medicinal benefits.These leaves are highly nutritious as well as tasty.This simple moringa leaves curry can be prepared very quickly and make a great combination for rice.Drumstick leaves cooked with dal is an absolute south Indian delicacy. Here i am using masoor dal for preparing this curry.However this can be cooked along with tor dal as well.This simple dish can be made by using minimum ingredients that are readily available in a south indian kitchen.
Ingredients
Drumstick leaves/Muringayila-2 cups
Turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
Masoor dal-1 cup
salt
shallots-3
garlic-3
coconut oil-1 tbsp
For grinding
kasmiri chilli powder-1tsp
salt -as per taste
coconut grated-1/2 cup
cumin seeds-1 tsp
green chillied-3
garlic-3
Method
Pressure cook masoor dal with 1 &1/2 cup of water and 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder.Cook until 2-3 whistles.Cook muringa leaves with 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder and 1/2 cup of water.Sprinkle some salt.In a blender jar adding grated coconut,cumin seeds,turmeric powder ,garlic and green chillies.Grind and make a very fine paste.coconut paste is ready.Drumstick leaves cooked for 4-5 minutes.Adding cooked masoor dal.pouring some water.Adding ground coconut paste.Add enough water for the curry .check the taste add salt of needed.For seasoning ,in a frying pan adding 1 tbsp of coconut oi,shallots and garlic.Fry until they turn brown.Adding 1 tsp of kashmiri powder to make it even more colourful.Pouring this over the curry.Serve with some rice!!!!!!!!!!
